I know I shouldn't keep him, but every time he butts his nose against my cheek and licks my face I just don't know how I can give him away! Plus it seems too odd and almost like I'm supposed to have him--if I hadn't met a friend at a bar, and then given her a ride to her other friend's house, and then stayed there and had a glass of wine, I wouldn't have run in to my neighbor and I wouldn't have known this cat even existed. And I said it's weird and destined because I almost never, ever go out like that! And I didn't have a reason to. I wasn't bored; I didn't want to drink; I had plenty of other stuff to do; I just sort of went. It was weird.

Anyway, I still don't know what to name him. I've just been calling him Mister for now. I was thinking of naming him Tristan, because he's not neutered and my cat Isolde isn't spayed, and they are not allowed to make babies dammit! But it doesn't fit him. My friends and coworkers keep suggesting things like Morris, Chester, or Oliver, but those just aren't him either.

I was also thinking about Rhys, just because I like it; or Haven, which is a werelion out of the Anita Blake books. But I just don't know.

He looks like our late cat, Slick, who had diabetes and had to be put to sleep. Slick's name was actually Boots (for his white paws) but we called him Slick because his coat was so short and he kept it so slick and shiny all the time. He was a really cool cat, too. He knew when DH was due home from work and recognized the sound of his truck and waited for him at the front door, meowing if DH didn't come in right away. He also laid on DH's computer desk to be petted while DH played games on the computer. He talked to DH all the time, too. DH would say "What?" and Slick would meow at him every time he said it.

  2. Uh-Oh, I hope you don't have to call him 'Daddy' :/

Vesta, it sounds like Slick was a sweetheart. I love it when my cats talk to me!

Mary, that's why Mister lives in the bathroom right now except when I can watch them! Isolde isn't in heat now--at least not that I can tell--but I don't want to risk it!

  5. Oh, I like Merlin the magician. He's a lucky cat, too.

I am a fool for my Wendell who is 13 years young. Still can run down the stairs like lightening. We lost our female, Nizzy, last Novemeber at 15, to kidney failure, but she was great right up until we discovered how sick she was.
I wanted to adopt another cat and spent lots of time on Petfinder, but in the long run, I can't do it to my boyfriend. I don't think he'd react well and he's the man around here. Both my hubby and I are completely besotted with him.

Is there a Humane Society near you, or is there any group that provides low cost spay/neuter? I hope you can find some help with that.
