This month has been an utter clusterfuck. I had to pay my rent late--like way late. And then my checking account was overdrawn because of it, so I had to pay fees on that. After my Sunday shift, I finally had enough to cover that and one other thing that was coming out yesterday.

Or so I thought.

My fucking bank apparently decided to push through two more things that were pending in the early afternoon--so now I'm $130 in the hole AGAIN. So now I have to make $130 to cover that, $110 for my phone bill, $682 for rent, and whatever else to keep myself and my animals fed and put gas in my car. It's not going to fucking happen.

It's only $60 but coming on the heels of everything else, it's a major fucking setback. I've paid $250 in late/overdraft fees this month because of shit like this. I'm working as hard as I can and I can't catch up. I'm so tired of this. I just want to give up. If I didn't have animals to take care of, I might just curl up in my bed and not get out ever again. Just lie there and sleep until someone physically removes me.

Yeah, I'm being melodramatic. But I've been crying so hard I can hardly breathe for half an hour, and I thought if I focused on writing it out it might help. It's not.

those overdraft charges are the worst.
i hate how banks will put charge on top of charge.

I don't know if this an option, but if you can get overdraft protection on your checking account, that will stop those overdraft fees.
DH and I have it on ours (actually, he had on his account when we got married and he just added me to his account). Our bank charges us $25 a year for it, plus interest on however much they have to cover (and for us, the interest has been a matter of 5 cents or less on the $300 we had to use one time because we were able to put the money back in the bank right away).
I've heard people say that overdraft protection is too expensive, but I'd rather pay $25 a year (one time) than $30 every time a check bounces because of unforeseen circumstances.

There are some options, as vesta said. Some banks allow you to turn off the overdraft availability, meaning your card won't be accepted if there aren't enough funds at the time of purchase. Another option is to call the bank and ask for some fees to be refunded. Most banks are really willing to do that if you've been a customer for a while and haven't asked for refunds in the past. You also have the option sometimes to open a line of credit to cover any overdrafting. It acts just like a credit card. Vesta pretty much described how it works.

I worked in banking for a while so if you have any issues you can always ask me :P

Alyssa, I hope things get better for you too. :( Damned fairy godmothers, never around when you need them ...

I'd love to have overdraft protection, but they declined me being of my credit being crappy. In this case I'm stuck with the charges--they refunded one for me last week, and they're recurring payments so they'd just give me an earful about I should have known they were coming. Which I did, but since they weren't showing a date by them yesterday afternoon ... ahrg. Oh well, nothing to do now but keep pouring money in to the Bank Account Sinkhole!

You might be able to get an extension on your phone bill. If you call them before it's due, a lot of companies are willing to work with you on setting up a payment plan. Good luck!
